Air Supported Structure Applications

Air-supported structures were first utilized as protective enclosures for military radar antennas and have evolved into a variety of commercial, industrial, and recreational applications over the past 40 years. The earliest air structures were crude, usually for seasonal purposes only, and were made of a parachute-like fabric sewn together by industrial sewing machines.

Arizon’s key executives have played an important role in the transition of air structures into the permanent, year-round buildings the have become. With unlimited clear spans that are structurally equivalent to many brick and mortar or glass and steel buildings, Arizon structures now carry a structure warranty exceeding 20 years. Improvements include the development of fabrics and membrane as strong as steel; proprietary Arizon coatings that protect the exterior fabric from UV and other environmental degradents; radio frequency welders capable of creating fabric seams with strength equal to the fabric itself; and an Arizon Cable Grid System that enables our air domes to withstand winds exceeding 150 mph and snow or ice loads of 50 lbs. per square foot.

Air Structures have always been faster to install and less expensive to construct when compared with conventional buildings, but Arizon’s fabric domes today can be installed at the job site in only a few days and at a tenth or even a twentieth of the cost of conventional buildings.
